The mandarine or mandarin, belongs to the citrus family and is valued for its beautiful orange colour, easy peel removal and juicy sweetness. Thought to have originated in China, mandarin oranges (Citrus reticulata) 橘子Jú zi are one of the original citrus species and the ancestor of many of the modern day cultivars.

They contain the high levels of β-cryptoxanthin, an oxygenated carotenoid form of provitamin A. This works in the body to decrease the risk of some cancers and degenerative disease. It is also thought that β-cryptoxanthin–rich foods may help delay osteoporosis.

Mandarins are packed with water soluble vitamins B & C.  Four mandarins supplying the daily requirement for both provitamin A and vitamin C.
