Highlights: Organic Burdock (Arctium lappa) 牛蒡 Niú bàng, belongs to the Daisy family and is valued in both Asia and Europe for its healing qualities. Still eaten as a vegetable in Italy and Portugal, it is more common in Asian cuisine where it maybe found in Chinese ‘Five Element’ soup, as a braised dish Kinpira Gobo (金平ごぼう) in Japan, or 우엉조림 woo eong jo rim in Korea.

Traditionally mixed with dandelion and drunk as a tea or tonic, it is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is used as diuretic, a blood cleanser and is naturally helpful for skin problems.

Burdock contains high amounts of inulin and mucilage, which may ease certain gastrointestinal conditions, it also contains phenolic acids, luteolin, and quercetin, powerful antioxidants which are thought to improve inflammation.
