Highlights: Organic red dragon fruit (Selenicereus costaricensis) or pitaya roja is a tropical fruit indigenous to Central America and Southern Mexico. It grows well in 20-30°C with alternating periods of wet and dry weather. Too much rain causes stem rot and although it belongs to the cactus family it needs shading from intense sun.

Organic red dragon fruit with its high water and fibre content is extremely beneficial for those suffereing from constipation and has a slight laxative effect.
