Highlights: Discovered as a chance seedling in Braeburn Orchard, Motueka on the North Coast of the South Island of New Zealand in 1952.  Thought to be a cross between Granny Smith and Lady Hamilton, this apple has a sweet/tart flavour and is great for juicing and perfect baked dishes, particularly for the French classic dish, ‘Tarte Tatin’.  Braeburn apples are also good eating apples and their fibre, benefits the digestive system, but they brown quickly, so d eat them straight away. Choose the ones that are redder in colour to get the best array of phytonutrients.
