Highlights: The Organic Natyra apple was originally bred in Germany in 2010 where it was labelled variety SQ159. The focus was on developing an organic brand especially for organic consumers. Natyra is scab resistant and as a result is easy to grow organically without pesticides.

So far, 130 hectares of the varietal have been planted in Germany, 20 in Italy, 10 in Austria and the Netherlands and 6 in Belgium. With its scab resistance and long shelf life, it has also become of of interest to commercial growers.
