Highlights: Simply Natural Organic Arrowroot Powder is made from the tropical tuber of (Maranta arundinacea). The starch from the plant’s rhizome is processed to produce a fine flour-like substance.

This flour has a relatively high protein content and is an excellent source of folate, essential for growth and development of the foetus during pregnancy and DNA formation. Low levels are associated with birth defects and chronic disease.

Arrowroot powder contains ~32% resistant starch which is processed by gut bacteria, boosting overall health as it forms a viscous gel which decreases constipation and lowers cholesterol levels.

It is an ideal thickening agent  for sauces, gravies, or soups and gives a softer texture to baked goods.

To thicken with arrowroot, blend about 2 Tbs of the powder with ¼ cup of cold liquid before adding to a hot liquid.
