Originating in Central Asia as a fuzz-free mutation of the peach, white nectarines (Prunus persica var. nucipersica) 白油桃 Bái yóu táo are sweeter than their yellow cousins.

Packed with polyphenol antioxidants, white nectarines are a good source of vitamin C to boost the immune system and folate B9 to support red blood cell development for oxygen transport. These antioxidants are though to protect against development of certain cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Keep at room temperature to ripen and eat immediately when ripe. Fresh nectarines are also a  delicious topping for yoghurt & cereal, or added to salads and fruit punch. Their delicate flavour is best savoured fresh and pairs well with fresh, light cheeses such as burrata, goat or manchego.
